#Storage Capacity Measurements – #PS💭

If you are present in enough Executive CTO meetings and Seminars you know by now all they talk about is PetaBytes of Data, Hybrid Cloud, Flash vs. SSD, and TeraBytes of MetaData etc.  I think it would be good to know what exactly these numbers look like and what are the next set of Numbers and capacity measurements planned to be introduced soon.

 

With Amount of Data Just Netflix, Google, Apple and Facebook caching we will be discussing New set of Capacity Measurements over the next 2-3 years or sooner.

 

Storage Capacities Base 10

 

A kilobyte (KB) is equal to 1,000 (103) bytes.
A megabyte (MB) is equal to 1,000,000 (106) bytes.
A gigabyte (GB) is equal to 1,000,000,000 (109) bytes.
A terabyte (TB) is equal to 1,000,000,000,000 (1012) bytes.
A petabyte (PB) is equal to 1,000,000,000,000,000 (1015) bytes
A kibibyte (KiB) is equal to 210 bytes.
A mebibyte (MiB) is equal to 220 bytes.
A gibibyte (GiB) is equal to 230 bytes.
A tebibyte (TiB) is equal to 240 bytes.
A pebibyte (PiB) is equal to 250 bytes

 

I’m sure you can find more detail information on the web if you do some searching, but I thought this might help the ones of you that talk to Clients and just want to impress them by knowing what comes after PetaByte!
